FORMER Ross County star Ross Jack had the biggest smile of the day on his return to Victoria Park with the team he now manages, Elgin City.

The Third Division outfit sprung the surprise of the day knocking Challenge Cup holders County crashing out of the tournament with a well-deserved 2-1 victory.

Goals either side of the interval from City's Brian Cameron and Stuart Leslie overturned the dream start opener registered by Scott Morrison after just 72 seconds.

The Staggies were attempting to overcome a side boasting several former County players and staff. City manager Ross Jack started his career with County before a move to Everton in the mid-1970s. He was assistant coach at Victoria Park for a few months in 2008.

Ross County will this weekend be facing another Third Division side, Queen's Park, in the Scottish Communities League Cup.
