An old Doran house in an Ullapool street could be demolished and replaced after a prior application notification was lodged with Highland Council.

Applicant Alan Hartley is seeking permission to demolish 8 Castle Terrace.

In his application he explains that the plan is to replace the existing 1960s era building with a new build, with an application for that new construction likely to be submitted "in the near future".

In his application he said: "The building to be demolished is a 1960s Doran house which will be replaced with a new house to current building standards.

"Plans for the new house are being prepared at the moment and will be submitted in the near future. Prior to starting the demolition work, all services will be properly disconnected and fencing will be erected to prevent public access to the site."

Doran houses were usually bungalows that were built using pre-fabricated reinforced concrete in the early to mid part of the 20th century.

They were designed to be a swift build and geared towards making affordable housing, but some have developed age-related structural issues in the decades since their construction. It is not known if this is the case with 8 Castle Terrace.
