Black Isle Showground 1980s pop nostalgia festival pushed back to May 2023
Fans of 1980s pop have been told they might have to put their leg warmers back in the sock drawer for another year with the postponement of a star-studded musical event planned for the Black Isle Showground in May.
Isle Be Back, which is being staged by Highland promoter North Highland Events, was to have brought some of the decades biggest pop names to Ross-shire for the two-day event, among them headliners ABC, Nik Kershaw and T’Pau, along with Blancmange, Doctor & the Medics, Owen Paul and Black Lace and a number of 1980s-themed tribute acts.
However, North Highland Events managing director Liam Christie has announced the event will be pushed back to May 2023, citing "current economic conditions and circumstances beyond our control" for the decision.
In a statement released on North Highland Events's website, Mr Christie continued: "We understand how disappointed you, the fans, will be with this news – just when it looks like we are getting back to some kind of normal as we live with Covid-19.
"The good news is that all the current line up of artistes have agreed to attend next year, and we intend to make the 2023 event much more of an occasion for all of the attendees who are supporting the event.
"Once again, we are all disappointed that we have had to reschedule but we thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you all next year at the Black Isle Showground."
The event will now take place 12 months later than planned on May 13 and 14 2023.
Tickets already purchased will be valid for next year with no increase in pricing, but anyone who cannot attend will be able to claim a full refund by emailing the ticket office at info@islebeback.co.uk.
