Police Scotland appeal for witnesses after woman (57) dies in A87 crash near Inverinate, Kyle
A 57-year-old woman passenger has died after a crash in the west Highlands.
Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses to the tragic accident on the A87 near Inverinate, Kyle at around 11.10 am on Tuesday.
It involved one car and also saw the 57-year-old male driver of the white Vauxhall Astra was taken to hospital.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.
The man was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed.
The A87 was closed in both directions near Inverinate following the collision and reopened more than eight hours later.
Police Sergeant Calum MacAulay of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.
“Sadly, a female passenger died, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.
“The road re-opened at 6.30pm on the same date. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated.
