If you're looking to get out and about, now could be the perfect time to check out the newly revamped Corrieshalloch Gorge 'gateway to nature' redevelopment.

The National Nature Reserve is looked after by the National Trust for Scotland which has created 'low-impact' visitor facilities and over 800m of new pathways to allow visitors to discover previously unseen parts of the nature reserve, while also protecting the flora and fauna around the site.

One highlight of the project is the creation of four new viewing points within the reserve, with their positions carefully chosen by the local team to enable visitors to enjoy the stunning scenery from different perspectives.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a takeaway café, a covered outdoor seating area, toilets and a new much-needed car park, along with electric vehicle charging points. Blue and grey waste disposal facilities will be available for touring vans.

Work by a Wester Ross artist is "coming home" for an exhibition at an award-winning visitor attraction in the area that shaped him as the person he is now.

Daniel Murray’s first solo exhibition will be on display at Gairloch Museum in May and June

This exhibition will be a celebration of Dan’s recent work and showcases one of the Highland’s most exciting contemporary painters.

Born and raised in Poolewe, the people and stunning landscapes of the North West Highlands have had a profound impact on Dan’s painting.

His striking portraits take subjects and situate them in stylised worlds, all inspired by the place he still calls home.

The exhibition, covering both the downstairs and upstairs galleries, is a collection of Dan’s work from the past four years.

Members of the public are invited to an early preview of this exhibition on Friday, May 5 from 7pm to 8pm. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 6. Opening hours of the museum are 10am–5pm Mondays-Saturdays.
