A835 roadworks south of Contin - all you need to know

ROAD users on a busy stretch of the A835 in Ross-shire are being warned of a seven-night work programme due to start later this month.

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out surfacing improvements on the trunk road south of Contin with works set to get underway on Tuesday, February 18.

The works are scheduled to take place over seven nights, from 8pm on Tuesday, February 18 and 6am on Wednesday, February 25. To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the public, temporary traffic lights with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements, says BEAR.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A835 south of Contin will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, twitter at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
