Alness cadets pause to honour ultimate sacrifice
ALNESS-based Air Cadets of 379 (County of Ross) Squadron marked a milestone as they remembered service men and women, past and present yesterday.
Cadets paraded at the war memorial Alness in what is the centenary year of the commencement of World War I.
It was amongst several such ceremonies staged the length and breadth of Ross-shire.
Cadet Flight Sergeant Alexandra Smith of 379 (County of Ross) Squadron laid the squadron remembrance wreath at the war memorial, High Street, Alness.
Following the conclusion of the short service at the memorial, the squadron marched to the squadron padre’s church, Rosskeen Church of Scotland, Alness for the Remembrance Day Service taken by the Reverend Robert Jones.
The squadron was led off by this year’s banner barer Cadet Sergeant Drew Mackay.
The Commanding Officer of 379 (County of Ross) Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Andy Dobson RAFVR(T) said: "The cadets from the squadron came together in this Centenary Year to remember the fallen service men and women of our country both past and present, and did the community and themselves proud in the manner in which they undertook this parade.
"It is important to pause and remember that for our tomorrow they gave their today."

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.''
The Air Training Corps is open to anyone aged 12 (from 2 year Academy students) -17 years old.
