BIG-hearted children involved with an Alness group have been rewarded for using their initiative with a £600 boost for three charities.

The Place youth services group of Sophie Hynd, Iona Murphy, Luci Haig, Abbie Cochran and Anna Mackenzie came up with the idea of a winter walk.

They contacted Badaguish Speyside Trust which is where The Place had held its summer residentials for the past 16 years. On hearing that The Place had lost its meeting place in Alness, the Trust offered its services free of charge in light of the long-standing partnership.

Having roped in some friends, the girls group and seven other youngsters and youth workers walked from almost the top car park to Aviemore.

In the process, they raised more than £600 which will be shared between Children In Need, Cash for Kids and The Place.
