Originally a classical singer, James Cobb, lead tour guide at Dalwhinnie Distillery, relocated from London to the Highlands to pursue a career in Scotch whisky in 2022 and never looked back.
He said: “I really enjoy the team dynamic here at Dalwhinnie Distillery. There’s a real sense of collaboration amongst everyone.
“The scenery also plays a big part in what makes this job special. Being surrounded by the Cairngorms is a dramatic change from London, and the views here are absolutely breathtaking. It’s not just about the work but the whole environment that makes it a unique experience.”
Christy McDonald, Tour Guide at Talisker, lives in the distillery housing and found his passion for the liquid when he started a whisky club at uni. He said ”What makes Talisker unique is the passion everyone has for the industry. Whisky isn’t just a job for most people, it starts as a hobby or a love of Scotch whisky, so it doesn’t feel like work. You’re surrounded by people who genuinely care about what they’re doing, which makes it a really special place to work.”
Glen Ord Visitor Centre meanwhile is on the hunt for a brand home guide on a fixed summer contract.
