Councillors hit the right note with Ross charity Blythswood; Shoe Box appeal boosted by efforts of Highland Council
A MAJOR appeal started in Ross-shire but with an impact across the globe was celebrated in quirky fashion at Highland Council's headquarters.
A choir of Highland councillors who have supported the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal made a video to support the drive which delivers thousands of simple but gratefully received gifts to people facing challenging conditions across the world.
The choir sang its own version of the 12 days of Christmas, but based on the items which you would put in a shoebox.
Tain and Easter Ross councillor Fiona Robertson, amongst those backing the campaign, said: "We all dressed up in festive costumes and hats, with the chief executive, Donna Manson as an elf and Councillor Willie Mackay as Santa. We were also delighted to have Councillor Raymond Bremner, who is an award-winning singer at the Mod, conduct us.
"Many councillors also contributed filled shoe boxes and donations of money to help this very worthwhile appeal."
James Campbell, the chief executive of Blythswood, came in to watch the performance and to thank councillors and staff for the support Highland Council has given.
