Easter Ross school Newmore Primary still closed due to Covid while Ben Wyvis Nursery in Conon hit by burst pipe flooding damage

A ROSS-SHIRE primary school remains closed today due to Covid while another nursery won't open because of damage to the building.

Newmore Primary in Easter Ross has been closed since the beginning of the week with the reason given by Highland Council as Covid-related.

Thirty-nine pupils are affected by the closure.

Meanwhile Ben Wyvis Nursery in Conon Bridge is closed following damage to the school building.

Highland Council said: “Ben Wyvis Primary Nursery is closed as the building has some flooding caused by a burst pipe. We are working to fix the issue and it is expected that the school will reopen later this week”.

The nursery has a roll of 49 children.

Highland Council updates its school closure list every week day morning from 7am.

Parents and carers can also phone 0800 564 2272 to get the latest pre-recorded message from the head teacher of their child's school. They will need a PIN supplied by the school to access that.

The closure list can be found here.
