Police investigating a fatal crash on the A87 have urged motorists to check their dashcams for footage which may assist their investigations.

A 39-year-old man died, and another man and woman required hospital treatment, following a one-car crash involving a blue VW Golf at Breakish on Skye.

The collision occurred at around 9.50pm and the road was closed for eight hours while emergency services attended the scene and carried out enquiries.

The driver and passengers were taken to Broadford Hospital, with the driver sadly passing away a short time later.

The passengers, a woman (19) and man (23) were treated at the same hospital and later discharged.

Police have now urged any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Christopher Donaldson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who saw the car prior to the crash or who has dashcam footage which may assist to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting ‘reference 3933 of December 2’.
