Dingwall butcher with links to Scottish regional title
Ross-shire has a new sausage champion.
Multi-award-winning Fraser Brothers Family Butchers in Dingwall has been crowned regional champion in the Scottish Pork Sausage Championships 2025.
The fiercely contested battle of the bangers took place at the Scottish Craft Butchers Trade Fair in Perth recently, and a delighted Fraser Brothers manager, Murray Mackay, was there to collect the award.
“This is just terrific,” he said. “We believe we have perfected our pork link sausages and to have them recognised and rewarded by the judges as something special is just brilliant.
“We always knew they were good but now they’ve been judged the best in the north of Scotland.
“We faced competition from some of the best butchers in the country so this is a real achievement.”
Murray said the team at Fraser Brothers take great pride in their hand-crafted pork links, which use Scottish pork and the finest ingredients.
“Consistency is key,” he said. “You can’t turn out a competition winner one day and sell something different over the counter the next. Our links are top quality every single day.
“This award will give everyone a wee boost and our customers will be delighted for us. Hopefully we’ll see a few new faces when word gets round that Dingwall is the place to bag the best banger in the north of Scotland.”
Gordon King, executive manager with Scottish Craft Butchers, praised Murray and his team for their regional win, pointing out the high standard of competition the Dingwall entry faced.
“The Scottish Pork Sausage Championship is one of the most coveted and fiercely contested competitions in the business,” he said, “and to lift a regional title is a real achievement and recognition of an outstanding product.
“The standard of entry this year was extremely high, which reflects well on our local independent craft butchers who supply this household staple food as one of their key products on a daily basis.”
