Dingwall clean-up aims to 'improve' woods for local people and wildlife in Ross-shire county town

A community clean up to remove litter and garden waste from woodland areas will be held in Dingwall this weekend.

Organised by High Life Highland’s Countryside Rangers, the project will take place at Dingwall Woods on Saturday, February 19 between 11am and 2pm.

The Countryside Rangers, who run projects, events and guided walks throughout the year to promote appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and heritage, are encouraging members of the community to join in on the clean up.

Ranger Saranne Bish said: “We will be litter picking, removing garden waste and non-native Rhododendron bushes to improve the woods for local people and wildlife.

“We will also have a fire going and a shelter up so we can stop for hot drinks, but we’d really appreciate anyone’s help to get it all done.

“It’s a great way to stretch your legs and get active outdoors after Christmas.”

High Life Highland have advised that children must be accompanied by an adult and helpers should bring warm clothing, their own cup and snacks around the campfire. Hot water will be provided.

Countryside Rangers hold many different events, and whilst all are free, the Rangers rely on donations to help protect Highland wildlife and heritage.

Volunteers wishing to join in on the clean up are asked to contact Marcia Rae at marcia.rae2@highlifehighland.com.
