Dingwall Players’ panto production of Treasure Island cancelled due to ‘operational issues’
A highly anticipated date on the Ross-shire festive panto calendar has been cancelled just over a week before its opening night.
Dingwall Players’ production of Treasure Island, which was due to have its first showing at Ross Hall in the Legion Club on Thursday December 12, has been mothballed due to “operational issues”.

Players’ Nick Fearne confirmed the cancellation in a short statement: “Due to a number of operational issues, it is with regret that Dingwall Players have cancelled this year’s pantomime, Treasure Island.”
The popular annual pantomime, which was due to run over three evening shows, on Friday December 13 and Saturday December 14, had also planned a matinee on Saturday afternoon.
Show director Allan Thomson said he hopes to see the panto return next year.
He said: “A lot of different circumstances and operational issues have conspired unfortunately. It’s just one of these things, with no one person or organisation to blame.
“We just had to take a decision on it. There’s a lot of things that have to come together to put on a pantomime. It’s the first time we’ve had to do this in about 40 years.
“There are no immediate plans to hold it later in the year, but we will be holding a committee meeting soon to decide on that.
“Hopefully we will be doing a panto next year. It’s not the end of panto I hope, it just hasn’t been viable this year.”
Dingwall Players has confirmed that ticket holders will be contacted later this week to advise how they can obtain a full refund on their purchase.
