Dingwall police asked to probe alleged Remembrance Sunday vandalism at war memorial





POLICE have been alerted to a reported act of vandalism in Dingwall on Remembrance Sunday.

Ross-shire’s county town was amongst several communities paying their respects to those who died in action with a High Street parade earlier today.

Poppy wreaths laid at Dingwall War Memorial by a variety of groups were later found to be in disarray.

Andrew Macivor, one of those who organised today’s parade, posted a picture of the wreaths, stating: “To whoever did this, you have no respect a disgraceful act of vandalism. Shame on you.

“The memorial has been restored now. Lest we forget.”

A Union Flag also appeared to have been tampered with.

A number of people took to social media to share their disgust . One wrote: “So sad to think that these heroes…went to war to protect these thugs. Send then out to Ukrainian or Gaza see how brave they are there.”

Another summer up the feeling of many with the simple post: “Disgusting and disrespectful.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
