A LONG-STANDING relationship between an Easter Ross community and a well-loved Highland charity was strengthened at the weekend with a new opening.
Highland Hospice threw open the door of its new charity shop presence in Alness on Saturday.
Highlighting the additional space the High Street premises provide, the charity invited bargain hunting supporters in the local community to check it out at a ribbon-cutting opening on Saturday.
The day went really well, according to a hospice spokesman, with shoppers looking keen to check out the new shop.

Long-standing volunteer Beryl Sharp was given the honour of opening the shop.
The hospice’s retail manager, Susan Cooper, said: “The Alness shop has so much history attached to it – it was our second ever Highland Hospice retail outlet, opening in March 1992 and run only by volunteers.”
“We are so pleased that we are able to move to bigger premises, which will allow for us to stock even more fantastic bargains for our customers. We have been flourishing recently in Alness, and this will enhance our success even more.”
She said: "Huge thanks to all of our staff, volunteers and customers for their patience while we relocate. We hope that old and new customers alike will pop in to have a look at the fantastic items we have on offer!”
She added, “We are always looking for good quality donations which we move between our shops to where they are best placed in order to maximise fundraising. A large part of our income comes from the Hospice’s shops across the whole of the Highlands, and our retail operation plays a vital part in enabling us to provide a high standard of care to patients and their loved ones at a difficult time.”
The shop is open on Saturday between 10am and 4pm, and thereafter Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. from If anyone is interested in joining its team of volunteers, please contact volunteer@highlandhospice.org.uk or visit www.highlandhospice.org/volunteer
