Alness Post Office set to flit to new High Street location in Easter Ross town
AN Easter Ross post office is set to be relocated – but it's not moving too far.
Post Office says it has agreed to relocate Alness Post Office to Alness Newsagents at 56 High Street in the town.
It says the new six-day-a-week arrangement will equate to an extra eight hours opening time a week.
The date for the move is still to be finalised.
The current branch at 39 High Street is operated by a temporary postmaster.
The Post Office said: "Whilst this arrangement has allowed us to maintain access to Post Office services to our customers in the area, we identified an alternative location to continue to offer permanent Post Office services to the local community.
"It would be a new-style Post Office local service with a Post Office serving point alongside the retail counter of the nearby confectionery, tobacco and news store."
The opening hours would be Monday to Friday: 9am – 5pm; Saturday: 9am – 2pm
This would mean that the branch would be open an extra eight hours a week including all day Tuesday and longer opening hours on Saturday for the convenience of customers.
