Wick man (32) killed in Highland road tragedy on A99 in Caithness is named by police
THE family of a man killed in a road accident in the Highlands yesterday said it was "devastated" by the tragic loss.
Police this evening confirmed the identity of the man who died following a road crash near Wick on Sunday.
He was Garry Aikman (32), from Wick.
His family released a statement through Police Scotland. It said: “The whole family is devastated by the tragic loss of Garry. He was a much loved grandson, son, brother, father and nephew.
“His loss will be sorely felt by us all and we are still in shock. We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with what has happened.”
The crash happened around 4pm on the A99 at the Freswick Bridge and involved a grey Vauxhall Vectra.
Highlands and Islands Road Policing Sergeant Kate Park said: "Our thoughts are with Garry’s family at this time. We are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash."
