FIRST LOOK: Strathpeffer community park set for phase 2
A TRAILBLAZING community-led initiative to turn a Ross-shire wasteland into a thriving community hub and playpark is set to reach a new milestone.
Strathpeffer Residents’ Association has been leading a bid to bring playparks back into the village.
After over 10 years’ of hard work, fundraising and securing grants, the new park officially opened back in June.

The impetus for the project came when existing play equipment nearby was consigned to the scrapheap on health and safety grounds.
Gavin Scott, chairperson of Strathpeffer Residents Association, said: “We are delighted to share that we have now placed the order for phase two of the Strathpeffer Community Park Playpark.
“Phase two brings together all the elements for younger children 0-4 years, while also providing play elements for the older users and it further increases the range of inclusive play the park has to offer.
“The equipment, as with phase one equipment will be sat in an accessible safety surface which joins on to our all ability path network.
“We are delighted with how popular phase one has been and hope that phase two is equally successful and brings all the elements required for a great playpark, for all!
”Our contractor is aiming for a September delivery and installation. We will then have to carry out landscaping and other finishing touches before opening.
“This would not be possible without the support of both the community and our wonderful funders.”
This includes Community Regeneration Fund, Foundation Scotland - EDF Renewables Corriemoillie Strathpeffer and Contin Community Funds, Scottish Children's Lottery, The Pat Munro Foundation, the Community Benefit HCES ( Allt Dearg) fund (Strathpeffer and Contin allocation), RSE , @strathpetal and personal donations.
He said: “Donations are still welcomed and essential to help us put the finishing touches to the play park, for example benches and landscaping.”
