Last week John Swinney insisted that a ban on alcohol at football games, which started in 1981, will remain in place.

We asked our readers if they think alcohol should be allowed at football matches — these were their thoughts.

Susie Skene said: “The thing is because there is none at the game they go mad before, so I think it’s worse not allowing it.”

Lee Campbell commented: “Yes it should as it would stop fans piling so much in before kick off. Fans could go to the ground and have a pint or two before kick off instead of 3 or 4 in the pub and leaving it to the last minute to go.”

Catherine-Anne Morrison stated: “Drinking would only be more trouble for certain fans that can't handle losing.”

Micheal Ross added: “Football fans can't behave themselves, they deserve not to be sold alcohol.”

The ‘rush’ to press ahead with a controversial housing development in Invergordon has sparked alarm among those opposed to the plans.

The move by Capstone Connect and Highland Council to build 66 homes on land to the east of House of Rosskeen was initially approved last summer, despite strong local objections.

Our readers took to social media to share their thoughts.

Lisa Morrison said: “For a council that says it's concentrating on environment certainly going wrong way about it removing the only green space in South Lodge. People's health is going to be affected big time.

“It's a very sad time when Highland Councillors don't listen to the constituents who elected them in to listen and represent them. Highland Council only works for the minority not the majority. Invergordon getting the raw end of the deal again.”
