Muir of Ord care home Urray House flags gardeners’ appeal with ambitious vision
Green-fingered locals are being invited to help transform a Ross-shire care home garden.
Urray House in Muir of Ord is inviting local gardening enthusiasts to lend a hand as they begin transforming their garden for the benefit of residents and the wider community.
The Muir of Ord care home is looking for volunteers of all ages and abilities to get stuck in with weeding, planting, preparing beds and painting benches.

The upgrade is part of a wider project to create a garden that is rich in wildlife and sensory features – including native plants, fruit and vegetable beds, and new habitats for birds and pollinators.
Ultimately, the plan is to provide a sustainable, therapeutic space that will be used not only by residents and their families, but also by the wider community during regular coffee mornings, garden parties and intergenerational events.
Debbie Young, manager of Urray House, said: “We’re hoping the community will get behind us and help bring our garden vision to life.
“We want it to be a place where residents, families and neighbours can come together – a space that’s peaceful and teeming with nature. This volunteer day is a great way to make a real difference and help create something that will thrive for years to come.”
Volunteers are encouraged to come along on Saturday, May 3 between 11am and 4pm. Refreshments will be provided.
