Human skull found on millionaire’s Wester Ross estate
A HUMAN skull has been found on a millionaire’s estate in Wester Ross.
The skull was reportedly found alongside other bones at Badentarbat Lodge in Coigach, near Achiltibuie, which was bought by millionaire financier Ian Wace in October last year.
Police say that the human remains were discovered during renovation work at a property near Achiltibuie on Wednesday morning (February 12).
After enquiries were carried out, police have confirmed that the remains are historic.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.25am on Wednesday, 12 February, 2025, we received a report of human remains discovered during renovation work at a property near Achiltibuie.
"Enquiries were carried out, and the remains were confirmed to be historic."
In October 2024, the Coigach Community Development Company (CCDC) officially accepted an offer from Ian Wace, where he gifted CCDC the funding to purchase the majority Badentarbat Estate in Coigach.
A portion of the land was kept for Mr Wace himself. As the current owner of Achnahaird Farm, there is an area of land around it which he is understood to have kept.
The group previously noted that if they hadn’t accepted the offer, Mr Wace intended to buy the estate himself.
