Invergordon Academy’s ‘amazing’ pupils secure £3000 for local charity
THREE Invergordon Academy pupils have secured £3000 for a local charity - which says the donation “means the world” to it.
Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an active citizenship programme which empowers young people to make a difference in their community about causes which they care about.
Through a programme of teamwork, research and competition, a year group takes part, and one team is then chosen to secure the £3000 award.
At Invergordon Academy, six teams of S2s took part in the competition — with Robbie Anderson, Gregor Cameron and Sam McCreadie winning the £3000 prize for Strathpeffer and District Community Rowing Club.

The Easter Ross high school said: “Teamwork, creativity and oracy were all in action at the YPI finals, with the S1s as audience to see what’s ahead of them next session.
“A great afternoon of being ‘responsible citizens’. A huge thanks to our judging panel and parents who came along to support, as well as Eilidh and Polly who provided the entertainment.”
Strathpeffer and District Community Rowing Club said: “A massive thank you to Sam, Robbie, Gregor and Arthur!
“We are incredibly grateful to these four amazing young men for choosing Strathpeffer and District Community Rowing Club as their charity. Your generous donation of £3000 means the world to us!
“This funding will help us build a much-needed, better boat shelter to protect our boats from the elements, ensuring they stay safe and ready for action. Your support strengthens our community and keeps our rowing spirit alive and thriving!
“From all of us at the club—thank you for making a real difference!”
