Invergordon’s Ship Inn posts fond farewell to customers

AN Easter Ross inn that closed its doors for the final time has thanked members of the public for their kind good wishes.

The Ship Inn in Invergordon announced at the end of January that it would be closing its doors for the final time at the end of March due to rising costs and the current economic challenges.

The news at the time sparked many to comment.

It said at the time: “We’d like to thank all of the team for their hard work and dedication over the years and wish them all the best for the future.

“And finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has visited the restaurant at the Ship Inn, whether it was a one-off, or you joined us regularly. We will miss you!”

Restaurant regulars shared their thoughts on the closure.

David Hayes-Macleod said: “The Ship Inn has been such a great place for superb food and a place I used to always recommend to friends visiting etc. This will be such a loss to the town but completely understand your reasons.”

Shonah Flett said: “Sorry to hear this. We have had lots of meals there enjoyed in relaxed, characterful surroundings.”

Lynsey Bolton added: “This is a great shame. A big miss locally. Always had lovely meals and evenings.”

In a post tagged “end of an era”, The Ship Inn shared: “We’d like to take the time to thank everyone who has dined with us over the years - whether it was a one-off or you were a regular with us, we will miss serving you!

“Also, a huge thank you to the staff who have helped us sail the Ship over the years, providing warm Scottish hospitality and great food and drinks every step of the way.”

The post from Anna Paterson and Rob Wemyss ended: “We don’t know when, or if, we’ll see you again. But for now, Goodbye Shipmates!”

It has attracted scores of comments.

The Royal Hotel in Cromarty said: “Sorry to hear you’re closing, these are tough times for everyone. All the very best for the future. X”

Paul younger shared: “Really sad to hear this, enjoyed the meals I had when I stayed. The Ship Inn got me out a horrible situation with open arms and friendly staff, thank you!

“I really hope you open again, I will visit again if you do. Take care and all the best.”
