Invergordon lifeboat in firth search
INVERGORDON lifeboat launched last night following reports of two people thought to be in distress in a boat.
The volunteer crew of seven launched the lifeboat at 5.07pm and made best speed towards the Cromarty Bridge to start the search.
With no further information at the time from Aberdeen Coastguard, the crew maintained a constant lookout for anybody in distress.
As the lifeboat made her way down the firth, several people were located further east than the given location of between Cromarty Bridge and Dingwall.
After confirmation that all was fine, the lifeboat continued with the search.
On reaching the bridge, the lifeboat’s daughter XP Craft was deployed to continue the search the area west of the bridge. Several people were spotted and the crew made their way to two boats containing three fisherman in each who all reported they were not in distress.
With all possible casualties located and spoken to, Aberdeen Coastguard was satisfied that the call was a false alarm with good intent and stood all search and rescue units down.
The lifeboat and the crew made their way back to
Invergordon’s West Harbour where the boat was refuelled and made ready for service by 7.30pm.
