A LIFELINE service that depends on donations from the public and the goodwill of volunteers to survive will throw open its doors to visitors today.

North Kessock Lifeboat Station begins its open day at 10am on Saturday morning for what is traditionally a major crowd-puller.

The annual event usually draws a substantial crowd throughout the day to the spectacularly set lifeboat station at Craigton Point, in the shadow of the Kessock Bridge.

Displays of swiftwater rescue and demonstrations by Invergordon and Kessock Lifeboats in full flow on choppy waters are among the attractions lined up.

A peek behind the scenes at the station, a variety of stalls, burgers, teas, home baking, games and a raffle are planned to keep the crowds entertained.

The open day is the lifeboat station’s biggest annual fundraising event.

The day of activities is due to run from 10am until 4pm.
