Loopallu scouts out hitmakers for Ullapool finale
A TWO-DAY festival which doubles the population of a picturesque Ross-shire village has unveiled its final hit-making headliner.
Scouting for Girls will close the eighth Loopallu festival in Ullapool later this month with organisers tipping "the biggest singalong the event has ever seen".
The band behind a string of hook-laden hits like "She’s So Lovely", "This Ain’t a Love Song" and "Elvis Ain’t Dead" join previously announced headline act The Fratellis at the top of the bill.
The childhood friends turned popstars have been nominated for four Brits and an Ivor Novello award and are gearing up for the release of a fourth album with current single, "Summertime in the City".
Scottish singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni also features, coinciding with the week of release of her debut album, "Under Mountains".
Acoustic folk trio The Staves, who’s debut album "Dead & Born & Grown" is also imminent can boast impressive production credits. Knob-twiddlers on the debut were legendary producer Glyn Johns (Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Clash) and his son Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, The Vaccines).
Festival organiser Rob Hicks, who has seen the event he started from scratch on a wing and a prayer develop into a staple of the ever-growing Highland festival circuit, said this week: "We’re so pleased to have a secured a long
overdue return to the north of Scouting For Girls who we know will bring the festival to a rousing, loud, singalong finale.
"Rachel Sermanni will be a highlight. Having watched her career blossom over the past two years now to return on the week of her debut album release will be quite something. Then also The Staves: simply wonderful. We can’t wait".
Tickets are priced at £60 for weekend tickets and £75 for weekend and camping. Tickets for children 12 and under will be free, though they do need to be accompanied by an adult.
