‘Massive landslide’ across the loch from Eilean Donan Castle





A “massive landslide” has taken place across the loch from major Highland tourist destination, Eilean Donan Castle, near Kyle of Lochalsh.

The landslide is understood to have taken place yesterday evening (Sunday) on the Glenelg peninsula, across Loch Duich from Eilean Donan Castle.

It is understood that although the landslide can be seen from the A87, it hasn’t impacted any main roads.

However, it has reportedly blocked a section of a single-track route from Shiel Bridge to the Dun Bruach broch.

One eyewitness said: “Thanks to the amount of rain we’ve had as of late, there’s been a massive landslide over at Totaig behind the castle! The earth moved three times!”
