The A9 near Aviemore has been closed in both directions after a lorry caught fire.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on the A9 northbound at 4.36am on Thursday.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said three fire engines attended the scene.

Crews extinguished the fire, which they said had started in one of the lorry’s tyres.

The spokesperson confirmed crews were stood down at 6.26am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said there are no reported injuries.

The road remains closed in both directions following the incident and a diversion has been put in place.

In a post on social media, Traffic Scotland said emergency services remain at the scene, and that traffic is likely to build up in the surrounding area.
