Inverness Race for Life fundraising hope

By SPP Reporter

ORGANISERS of yesterday's Race for Life in Inverness are hopeful that their £250,000 fundraising target will be reached.

The five kilometre route from Bught Park was completed by 3,220 women of all ages, delighting event manager Carolyn Johnston.

"Among the participants were hen parties who decided to spend their weekend at Race for Life, people celebrating birthdays and even lots of children and dogs taking part," she said. "People came from far and wide, which is not only great for us but also for the local economy and gives us lots to think about to make next year even bigger and better."

The race is one of 300 staged across the country to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Last year's Inverness event generated £248,000 .
