Bridge Street flats fire causes disruption in Inverness city centre

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a passer-by about smoke billowing from a window at a first floor apartment.

A spokesman for the service said they received the call at 8.39am and four fire tenders attended.

She said there were no reports of anyone in the property or any injuries.

The fire did not appear to be as serious as first feared.

A police spokesman said there does not appear to have been anyone hurt and officers were on the scene managing traffic on Bridge Street and Bank Street supervising traffic.
