A BLACK Watch soldier has been arrested in connection with the death of Inverness soldier Mark Connolly in Germany.

Private Connolly, of Wimberley Way, died in hospital last Saturday after an alleged fight outside a pub in Paderborn.

He had been in the country doing a military driving course.

It is understood a fellow soldier has been arrested by the Royal Military Police investigating the death.

An army spokesman said: "I can confirm that a soldier has been arrested in connection with the death of Private Connolly.

"A Royal Military Police investigation is ongoing and it would be inappropriate to comment further.

"Our thoughts are with the family of Private Connolly."
