Neds 4/5

By SPP Reporter

DISTURBING, upsetting, thought-provoking and touching, NEDS is the must see movie of the year so far.

It tells the story of John McGill a talented prize winning schoolboy. From the low expectations of the people around him and from the age old problem of peer pressure, he is turned into a knife-carrying teenager.

If ever there was case for self-fulfilling prophecy this is it.

A number of scenes are hard to watch – there are a few very violent scenes, but they are more harrowing because the story of this young lad who had such potential is so sad.

There is an outstanding performance from Conor McCarron who plays the lead role and whilst I say this is a must-see movie – the ending is a little odd and doesn’t end where you think it will.CD
