Fire fighters in Caithness have been called out to 12 incidents of heath fire in six days.

FIREFIGHTERS in the Far North have been involved in a dozen call outs in the past seven days as the heat wave continues to cause a number of heath fires in the region.

Crews from Thurso, Wick, Bettyhill and John O’Groats have dealt with fires in 12 areas.

It follows a prolonged dry spell across the county where unseasonably warm temperatures have seen the mercury rise to 19.6 degrees Celsius in Wick on Monday – high above the annual average of 10C for the month.
