‘Disgusting’ loos under attack

By SPP Reporter

Sir, – I allowed my grandson to use the toilet facilities in Elgin’s Cooper Park on Sunday.

While waiting outside for him, I overheard some tourists commenting on the state of both the ladies’ and gents’ toilets.

Being concerned for my grandson, I went to investigate and to my absolute disgust I found no toilet paper, no hand drier, no soap, urinals full to overflowing, and urine all over the floor.

The whole building was stinking.

As this was found during an event, you would have thought that Moray Council would have prepared for heavy use of the facilities. It appears not, as we were there early in the afternoon before it got really busy.

There can be no excuse for such an uncaring attitude towards visitors and locals alike. Nobody should have to put up with that simply because of the council trying to save some cash.

I have written to them to voice my disgust, and I suggest that all readers do the same when they see such a poor attitude from what should be a caring council.

Think again, Moray Council. If you needed to save cash by not manning the facility, you may want to consider the options of a) increasing the charge and manning the toilets, b) preparing the toilets in advance, or indeed c) manning them during periods predicted to be busy.

Shame on you, Moray Council; you ruined a family day out. – Yours etc,

Ian Jamieson,
