A motorist has been reported to the procurator fiscal for allegedly driving at 113 mph in a 60 mph zone at Halkirk on Wednesday.

The man was one of a number of motorists caught during a police crackdown.

Northern Constabulary held a day of action to target speeders and those not wearing seat belts in the North on Wednesday, May 11.

Seventeen people were caught speeding and 64 drivers were not belted in.

Inspector John Smith, head of the force’s road policing unit, said: "The fact that we are catching so many people clearly shows we have a responsibility to keep running campaigns like this and that the message is clearly being ignored by a number of people."

A 39-year-old man will be now be subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with the alleged speeding offence which happened on the A9.
