SUPPORTERS of Raigmore Hospital in Inverness are being sought to offer a helping hand in a fundraising shop opening soon within the building.

The Friends of Raigmore Hospital group is looking for volunteers to help man the new Friends shop.

Over the years the Friends have raised thousands of pounds for the hospital through fundraising and donations, and every penny has been given back whether it is through buying equipment such as a diagnostic scope for use in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), a specialist bath for cancer patients or items to enhance patient such as furniture for relatives’ rooms.

Space has recently been created within the hospital allowing the small team of volunteers to have a dedicated area where they can sell jewellery, cards and other products. It will also allow them to inform members of the public about what their next fundraising campaign is going to buy.

Christina Cameron, Chair of the Friends, said it is an opportunity to allow more people to get involved in fundraising for the hospital.

She said: "It is a small group of volunteers that we have here so we’re making a plea for willing volunteers to get in touch with us in the hope that they could man the shop as and when they are able.

"We have, for the last few months, had a table set up for us in the Outpatients Department which has done very well but to have a dedicated area will really make a difference."
