HUNDREDS of students and members of the community united in an Easter Ross school this week in a poignant act of remembrance.

Poppy wreaths made by primary pupils in Alness Academy's feeder schools were put on display in the town over the weekend before being gathered and taken in a procession to the school on Monday this week for a special assembly.

Calum Macmillan of Rosskeen Church is pictured looking at the wreaths made by children for the service.

The Academy's acting head, Kerry Sinclair, said: "Feedback from those attending has been extremely positive with comments being made on the importance of community events of this type with the school as a focal point for bringing people together across the age range and on the appropriateness of young people leading and delivering the assembly."
