A TEENAGER has been charged with acting in a racially aggravated manner following a message which was sent to an Inverness Caledonian Thistle footballer on a social networking site.

The comments on French forward Gregory Tade’s Twitter page were passed on to police by Stewart Regain, chief executive of the Scottish Football Association.

The investigation into the tweet, posted on a site operated by a 16-year-old sport and fitness college student called Mark Chalmers, was revealed exclusively by The Inverness Courier last Friday.

“I can confirm that a 16-year-old man has been charged with acting in a racially aggravated manner with intent to cause distress and alarm,” said a spokesman for Fife Constabulary. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
