Council worker falls through roof

By Joe Millican

AN investigation has been launched after a local authority employee fell through a roof in a Moray Council yard.

Dougie McGregor, who is heavily involved with the Keith-based Islavale Junior Football Club, was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin after the fall at around 10am last Friday.

He is believed to have been repairing corrugated roofing at Moray Council’s recycling depot at Balloch Road in Keith, when it gave way and he fell 10 feet onto the concrete floor below.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

An investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive.

A Moray Council spokesman said today: "We can confirm there was an accident involving a council employee but in view of the fact that a Health and Safety Executive investigation is ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment further."
