Inverness kickboxing brothers are top of the world in Dublin

THEY had already climbed a mountain just to be there.

But Inverness lads Aidan (11) and Ciaran Lennan (8) scaled the heights all over again last week to leave Dublin as world kickboxing champions.

The Muirtown Primary school pupils – both members of the local Raijin Martial Arts club – defied expectations and a powerful international entry to triumph at the WKC Kickboxing World Championships.

It proved a courageous effort amid a gruelling week’s competitive action for brothers who had climbed the 4000ft Cairngorm mountain peak just to raise funding for the Irish trip.

Alongside Scotland team-mate Adie Lock, Aidan and Ciaran won gold and the world champion title in the points team event. First beating Guatemala, the tournament favourites, the trio then defeated Ireland, Canada 2 and then Canada 1 in the final.
