A FORMER Inverness pub manageress head-butted a policewoman in the head and bit a male police officer on the hand while she was drunk.

Karen Mackenzie (40) of Mackintosh Road, was ordered to carry out 200 hours of community payback at Inverness Sheriff Court for the offences.

She admitted the assaults at an address in Kessock Avenue on August 6.

Her solicitor, Iain Innes, said Mackenzie was a pub manageress before the death of her partner and she had to give up work to look after her children.

He said she had little recollection of events and apologised to the policewoman by taking her into her own home to say "sorry".

He said the police officer did the decent thing and accepted her apology.

Mr Innes said she is normally able to control herself but was under the influence of drink at the time of the offences.
