Nairn fight back in derby

By SPP Reporter

NAIRN County triumphed in Saturday's Highland League derby with a 3-2 win at home to Clach.

A Martin MacDonald own goal and a strike from John MacAskill put Clach in control after Robbie Duncanson had given Nairn the lead.

Craig Campbell equalised for Nairn before half-time and Steven MacKay was on the mark in the second half to win it for the Station Park team.

Iain Maclellan shot Fort William ahead at Lossiemouth in the opening minute, but the hosts hit back to notch a 3-1 win.

Cove Rangers were the biggest winners as they came out on top in a cracker as they sank Wick Academy 5-3.

Title-chasing Turriff United were held 2-2 by Huntly, while Inverurie Locos kept up their challenge to move second with a 2-0 victory over visitors Fraserburgh.

Elsewhere, Keith beat Formartine United 2-1 and Brora Rangers were 2-0 winners at Strathspey Thistle.

The fixture between Forres Mechanics and Deveronvale was postponed.
