The popular and caring eight-year-old, of Springfield Gardens, Inverness, died suddenly last week from what is believed to be an asthma attack.

The P4 pupil had been sent home from Central Primary School after complaining of feeling unwell. But her condition later deteriorated and although she was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital, she died in the accident and emergency department.

Among those shocked and saddened by her death were the 4th Methodist Brownies of which Chloe had been a member for almost two years up until Christmas.

Brownie leader Sam Behan, who described Chloe as “a lovely wee girl”, is now hoping to organise a coffee morning at the end of next month in Chloe’s memory.

The money raised will go towards the £1 million appeal, launched by the ARCHIE Foundation and The Inverness Courier, to develop a more child-centred and family-friendly children’s ward.

“Chloe didn’t make it to the children’s ward,” Ms Behan said. “But the Brownies are of the same age group. You never know when they will need the hospital.”

It is hoped to hold the event on 25th June at the Methodist Church Hall in Huntly Street although Ms Behan said the details have yet to be discussed with the Brownies and their parents.

Following her death, Chloe was described by her devastated family as a “popular, thoughtful and caring” girl who had a bond not only with her family but her friends and everyone else who knew her.

She leaves her parents, Jaime and Jamie, step-parents Jock and Rachel, brother Connor, sister Kyra and stepbrother, Richard.
