Racist chant charge teen walks free
A TEENAGER, accused of shouting racial abuse at an Inverness Caledonian Thistle football match, has walked free from court.
Appearing at Inverness Sheriff court Corey Duff (16) from Newton Park, Kirkhill, denied conducting himself in a disorderly manner and committing a racially aggravated breach of the peace at the Inverness Caledonian Thistle match against Aberdeen on 26th January.
A witness who had been helping out with security at the game, said her attention was drawn to section G in the north stand which was particularly rowdy.
“There was a lot of aggression and people shouting and it was quite frightening really,” stated the witness, who added that a member of the public had complained to about bad language.
A racial remark was then shouted and she pointed Duff out to police.
But when asked by in court if the person who had made the remark was Duff, she admitted that she “was not sure.”
Sheriff Margaret Neilson acquitted Duff.
