Elgin City grabbed two wins in the space of 24 hours to give their pre-season preparations a boost.

Ross Jack's side thumped Clachnacuddin 6-0 in Inverness on Friday night, and the following afternoon won 3-1 at Fraserburgh in a testimonial match for the home side's long-serving midfielder Gavin Wemyss.

Manager Jack himself made a surprise appearance in Saturday's match in Buchan, coming on as sub at the age of 52 to play in the final twelve minutes.

Craig Frizzel put Elgin in front before a brilliant Robert Morrice strike levelled it at the break. A penalty by player assistant Barry Wilson restored the SFL side's advantage, and trialist Jordyn Sheerin completed the scoring.

Sheerin -a cousin of Arbroath boss Paul who had a spell with the Angus club last year - featured for 78 minutes along with fellow trialist Graeme Beveridge, who has been released by Division 1 Raith Rovers.

The Black and Whites were too strong for Clach at Grant Street Park the night before, with Craig Gunn on target twice in the six-goal romp.

Summer signings Stuart Leslie - who was Clach's top scorer last term - and Daniel Moore were also on the scoresheet, while Frizzel and Wilson (penalty) completed Elgin's haul.

Jack's men are next in action at Rothes on Wednesday night (7.45) and host Keith on Saturday, a week before their campaign kicks off with a Ramsdens Cup trip to Ross County.
