Chief Inspector Mike Coats: no-nonsense warning

A ROSS-SHIRE police chief has issued a no-nonsense warning following an Easter Ross blaze.

Two youths have reported to the Children's Reporter following the fire at the former Coulpark Children's Centre in Alness.

The blaze was reported around 7.20pm on Tuesday evening, police said.

Police interviewed a number of youths following the incident with two of them being reported.

Following enquiries into a number of separate fire-raising incidents, police have reported three youths in recent weeks.

Area Commander, Chief Inspector Mike Coats said, "Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated, especially fire-raising, which is an extremely dangerous offence.

"There have been a number of separate incidents of fire-raising in Ross-shire over a period of two months. An enquiry team was established to tackle this problem and as a result three youths were reported to the Children's Reporter over the past two weeks."
