Former Elgin Primary School pupil Kezia Dugdale, who has been elected to the Scottish Parliament
A FORMER Elgin primary school pupil has stepped into a new political career in Holyrood.
Kezia Dugdale (29) was elected to the Scottish Parliament a fortnight ago, having been the Labour Party’s number two candidate on the list for the Lothians.
Ms Dugdale’s primary education was at Bishopmill Primary School.
She went on to attend Harris Academy in Dundee, where she became head girl, before studying law at Aberdeen University. She also has a masters degree in Scottish social and public policy.
For four years after graduating, Ms Dugdale worked in public affairs within higher education, firstly for the Edinburgh University Students Association and then with the National Union of Students Scotland.
In 2006, Ms Dugdale worked as election agent for Sarah Boyack, who was subsequently elected as an MSP for Edinburgh Central.
Ms Dugdale’s father, Jeff, a former depute rector at Elgin High School, still lives in the town.
