Ross nurses win special accolade

Lorraine Watson and Anne Campbell of the East Mid Ross older adult community mental health team, won the dementia care category and practice of the year award.

Judges were impressed by the reach-out work with care at home staff looking after patients experiencing dementia and their carers.

Service manager Richard Pearson, said: “This is part of the overall strategy to ensure that understanding of the needs of patients with dementia is seen as core to not just mental health services, but all agencies providing help, such as care at home and the police. The older adult community mental health team were praised for their outreach work with care at home in the area. They are a credit to their profession and we are proud to have such dedicated mental health professionals working in NHS Highland.

Both are based with the Community Mental Health team in Invergordon.
